In a study published in the May 15th online issue of Nature Neuroscience first author Paramita Chakrabarty and senior author Todd Golde of the University of Florida in Gainesville along with other contributors form University of Florida and Mayo Clinic Florida, describe a novel mouse model that may offer new clues to Parkinsonism. This study raises the intriguing notion that altered innate immune responses driving high levels of IFN-γ could be a risk factor for Parkinson’s disease .
